Classes
At The Clay Nest Art Studio, our art programs bring together creativity, nature, and a sense of playful discovery. Each class invites kids to explore outdoors, gather natural materials, and let their imaginations lead the way. Through a mix of guided projects and open-ended creation, children build skills, confidence, and curiosity—while having fun, making a little mess, and finding joy in the creative process.

Little Makers
Ages 3-8
Little Makers is a playful, sensory-rich introduction to art, nature, and creative expression.
Each class is thoughtfully designed to honour the natural rhythms of early childhood. We begin with story, movement, or song to ground and connect, before moving into a variety of open-ended art invitations using natural materials, clay, paint, and seasonal elements gathered from the land.
Children are encouraged to explore at their own pace—mixing colours, shaping with their hands, building, imagining, and discovering. Alongside this freedom, gentle guidance is woven in to introduce foundational artistic skills and techniques in a way that feels playful and natural.
Time outdoors is an important part of our rhythm, where children gather inspiration, engage in sensory play, and build a deeper connection to the world around them.
This is a space where little ones can:
-
build confidence and independence
-
engage their senses and regulate their bodies
-
develop early artistic skills through play
-
feel a sense of belonging and connection
This class does not require parents to stay.
However if your little one needs the extra support or comfort we welcome you to stay.

Creators
Ages 5-10
Creators is a deeper exploration of art, creativity, and connection to the natural world.
Designed for children ready to expand their skills and ideas, this program blends open-ended exploration with more intentional artistic techniques.
Each session offers thoughtfully curated projects using mediums such as clay, charcoal, watercolour, natural dyes, and mixed media.
While creativity is still rooted in play, story, and imagination, this group is invited to spend more time developing their ideas—experimenting, revisiting projects, and refining their work through guided techniques and thoughtful support.
Children are encouraged to move at their own pace, with the freedom to explore different stations and materials, while also being gently supported in building focus, patience, and confidence in longer-form creative processes.
Our time often extends beyond the studio walls, where we gather natural materials, study seasonal changes, and draw inspiration from the land.
This program supports children to:
-
deepen their artistic skills and techniques
-
build focus and engagement in longer creative processes
-
think creatively and problem-solve independently
-
connect art to nature, story, and personal expression
-
grow confidence in their unique ideas and voice
Parents are welcomed to stay if they would like to share in the experience or support their child in that way. Drop off is also a great option.
